First flush tea from Temi Tea Estate, Sikkim. The dry leaf has a beautiful mix of olive green & black leaves with a sprinkle of silver tips. The dry leaf aroma has a nose of orange and a touch of roses with a slight nutty hint.
The large leaves yield a pale orange liquor with an aromatic flowery, favour of yellow fruit and honey that lingers in the mouth. The liquor starts out soft and smooth but turns sweet and slightly bright towards the middle where it is marked by notes of sweet greens, citrus, and oak wood.
Hailing from the gentle slopes of the Tendong hill range under the Himalayas lies Temi Tea Estate of Sikkim. This is the government-run tea garden has made quite an international name for itself due to its organic teas.
Teas produced by the estate have been compared to those of the neighbouring Darjeeling teas, and some believe that Sikkim teas from Temi Tea in particular — might just prove to be the new ‘champagne’ of teas to toast to.
One of the most revered aspects of Temi Tea Garden is the profound natural beauty that it is located in. Situated under the mighty Kanchenjunga, the tallest peak in India, which feels at an arm’s reach and the 440-acre estate benefits from the pure high-mountain air.
Since 1977 Temi Tea Estate is best known for its black teas. The certified clonal varieties of tea bushes are flanked by primrose, gentian, and blue poppies produce a magnificent spring flush.
